The Residual is out

The Residual is finally out on Steam.

It's a short, free, atmospheric, 2D narrative platformer about loneliness, memory, love, and a broken world that may or may not be real.

You wake up with no memory of who you are or where you are. An unknown operator claims he can guide you out, while fragments of memory slowly start coming back.

The whole thing takes roughly 20-30 minutes to finish. It's small, strange, intentionally unresolved, and completely free.

If it sounds interesting, give it a try:

Now with AI I was able to generate the artwork (and get insulted for it ofc :D) myself. The main reason why I hadn't done any gamedev since 2018 was that I didn't have an artist (the friend I worked with before gave up on gamedev), and it's hard to find one when you want to mostly make small, free games. The programming part was still mostly done manually, that was the part of the process I always enjoyed (that and game design), but I did use AI sometimes to help with the boring stuff.

If you finish it, I'd also be interested to hear what you thought about it.
